Members of STAA’s Artist Advisory Committee, Linda Dautreuil and Ruth Siporski, were featured at a group show at Cedarwood School PTA’s Gallery Night, April 2nd.

Lyn Hayward Taylor, Chair of STAA School Committee and an Art House Academy Instructor has been appointed to be The Louisiana Ambassador for the Portrait Society of America. She will represent the state at the Society’s Annual Four Day Conference in May. The Society will be honoring Andrew Wyeth with a Lifetime Award. Congratulations, Lyn!

Looking for Space for your group to get together?

STAA is now available rent space in the building for small groups and art-related events. Interested parties should contact STAA’s Office Manager, Roberta Carrow-Jackson for information about rates.

Currently, one group utilizing space at STAA is the Monday Night Figure Drawing group. These artists meet each Monday evening from 6:30-9:00 pm to study the figure, drawing from a live model. Participants pay $15.00 per week, and there is no instructor.

15th Annual
Jack Swanson Memorial Open Photography Exhibition

January 13 – January 30, 2007
Opening Reception Saturday, January 13, 2007 6-9 pm

Awards
A cash award will be given for Best of Show.  Juror’s merit award will also be given.

Eligibility
The competition is open to all artists over the age of 18.  All work must be the work of the submitting artist.  Photographs must have been taken in the past two years.  Work must not have previously been exhibited at any exhibit sponsored by the St. Tammany Art Association.  Work must stay up for the duration of the show.  Each photographer may enter up to two entries.

Matt/frame:  All photographs must be matted in white or off-white and be framed in black or neutral, simple, metal or wood frames, suitably wired to hang. 

Entry Fee
STAA Members: $20.00 (up to two entries)
Non-Members: $30.00 (up to two entries)

Walk Through and Critique
Juror: Steven V. Maklansky, Assistant Director of Art and Curator of Photography, New Orleans Museum of Art

The St. Tammany Art Association is delighted to announce that Steven Maklansky will give a walking tour and commentary on the photographic exhibit.  Steven’s expertise and genuine delight in the photographic process provides for an enjoyable interlude on a Sunday afternoon.  All are welcome to learn about the qualities of a successful photographic image.
